DIY Skin Treatments For Mom

Being a mom, you are probably way down on your list of people to take care of. Between taking care of your family and ferrying your kids to all their many activities can leave very little time for yourself. You can pretty much forget about a trip to the beautician. We have listed some ways that you can pamper yourself with some DIY skin treatments from the comfort of your own home so you can still do something for you without having to spend more time and money on going somewhere.

The Beauty Mask

This is one of those essentials in everyone’s beauty routines to help rejuvenate the skin and it is so easy to make your own. There are different ones you can make depending on your skin type, using regular items from your pantry. For normal to dry skin, try a mask made from natural yogurt. Mix a tablespoon of yogurt with two tablespoons of oats and apply to clean skin. Wait for 10 minutes and wipe off with a damp cloth. An egg white mixed with oats is great for oily skin as well as applying cooled green tea to the face as an after mask toner. For a refreshing mask, grate some cucumber, lie down, and put it on your face. This serves as a great pick-me-up.

Exfoliator

Exfoliating your skin is important for getting rid of dead skin cells so they don’t clog your pores. It is also a great way to boost new cell growth, improving the appearance of your skin. A scrub is a gentle way to exfoliate your skin. Mix two tablespoons of lemon juice with a tablespoon of white sugar for a gentle scrub. Apply this mixture to your face rubbing in circular motions and then rinse. Take note that lemon juice may make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

Moisturizer

Moisturizers play an important role in keeping the skin feeling smooth and soft. They work by keeping the skin hydrated by locking in moisture. You can make your own chemical-free moisturizer at home to keep you looking fresh. Use ingredients such as cocoa butter, coconut oil, sesame oil, olive oil, honey, avocado oil, aloe vera gel and more for lots of moisturizing benefits. Recipes online are plentiful so you should not have a problem to find one that is easy to make.

Facial Cleansing

A clean face goes a long way to keeping your skin looking its best. This helps prevent clogged pores and gives you a clearer complexion. It is also important to not wash your face too much or you risk drying it out. This also applies to the products you use. Harsh chemicals that dry out the skin also age it more quickly. Try a natural facial cleanser of castor oil and coconut or almond oil instead to wash away impurities. Mix one teaspoon of castor oil into a quarter cup of either coconut oil or almond oil. Massage into your face and then rinse with warm water.
