Facts About Dermaplaning

Everyone is talking about dermaplaning because they are tired of plucking the extra hair growth on their face, waxing is too painful, laser is too expensive and does not always work, and because they are looking for something that it will be the newest answer to excess facial hair removal.

There is no way to spin it otherwise, women have hair facial growth just like men, and though it may be less or more depending on your genetics, age, and other various factors, the fact that the hair is there can no longer be denied.  And there are many famous women including Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor who were known to shave their faces. And today, modern television personalities are increasingly acknowledging their facial shaving patterns.

Benefits and Process of Dermaplaning

There are differing opinions about the long-term benefits of female face shaving.  Many maintain that one of the reasons why men may get fewer wrinkles than women is because shaving requires exfoliation every single time they shave – where they remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells from their skin which spurs on the growth of new layers. This, in turn, can stimulate the production of collagen, with the benefit of having an anti-aging effect.

Dermaplaning has many benefits including reducing the appearances of wrinkles, the removal of peach fuzz which reduces acne because oil won’t be trapped in your skin, and allowing for an even deeper level of penetration of skincare products.  And if you have darker hair on your face, your skin will be brighter; this dispels the myth that the hair grows back thicker and darker afterward.

Many say that dermaplaning is just like regular shaving except it is done typically 1-2 times a month.  It can take just five minutes if you do it at home or 30 minutes if you go in for a treatment. In either case, dermaplaning exfoliates the skin with an instrument – either a scalpel if done by a specialist or an at-home instrument if you are grooming at home. To dermaplane at home, make sure your face is clean and dry, and make upward strokes around your face.

Female Hair Removal and Manufacturers

When thinking about hair removal generally, we cannot help but ask the question whether women have been somehow tricked into believing they need to remove their hair to be beautiful.  With the modern razor industry born with disposable razors for men in 1880 and the first female razor introduced in 1915 when Victorian dresses were reduced in size to flapper style dresses, more female hair was now exposed. And advertisers began to encourage women to remove excess body hair.

So should we assume that the removal of facial hair and the removal of body hair is all unduly connected?  Well, it is certainly connected on some level – to stay beautiful, advertisers began to dictate to women that shaving was another female ritual you now had to participate in.  On the other hand, more than one hundred years later, many women will argue that they cannot stand any excess hair and that the removal of it is worth every hour they spend to make sure it happens in the way that they prefer.

Whatever you choose, the choice is yours.  Hair or no hair,  women will know what is right for them and move forward accordingly.
